Naval Institute of Technology Celebrates 24^th anniversary with grand festivities. The Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) proudly marked its 24^th anniversary on the 1^st of August 2026, commemorating over two decades of excellence in shaping the technical backbone of the Sri Lanka Navy. The milestone was celebrated with a week of camaraderie, devotion, and military tradition, culminating in a grand finale on the 5th of August. The anniversary festivities began with a solemn Bodhi Pujawa held at the NIT temple premises. The religious ceremony invoked blessings for the continued prosperity, safety, and success of the institute, its officers, and all personnel, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the celebrations.

In the spirit of teamwork and physical fitness, the officers and staff of NIT organized thrilling sports tournaments. The cricket and volleyball matches saw enthusiastic participation, fostering healthy competition and strengthening the bonds between the officers, staff, and trainees.

Adding a touch of leisure to the disciplined routine, a vibrant Games Night was organized exclusively for the trainees. The event was a resounding success, with the trainees thoroughly enjoying the evening of fun, laughter, and team-building activities. The pinnacle of the anniversary celebrations took place on 5^th August 2026 at the NIT Parade Ground. The ceremonial parade was a spectacular display of military precision and discipline. All divisions of the institute participated with great pride. The Director of Studies of NIT, Captain (L) SSH Bandara, led the parade with distinction, taking the salute and inspecting the immaculate standard of the trainees.

Following the parade, a traditional special lunch known as "Badakana" was hosted for all attendees. This communal feast served as a perfect conclusion to the day's formalities, allowing everyone to share a meal in a spirit of unity and fellowship.
