Eligibility Criteria for Admission

An artificer candidate should :

• Be a citizen of Sri Lanka


• Be not less than 18 years and not more than 24 years of age on closing date of application


• Have the following qualifications


1. Should have passed the G.C.E (O/L) Examination in not more than two attempts with 06 subjects including English, Science and Mother Tongue with a credit pass for Mathematics to be enlisted as Artificer apprentice.


2. Should have passed the G.C.E (A/L) Examination in not more than one attempt for following Diploma



National Diploma in Technology offered by KDU
* Mathematics Stream - Combined Maths and Physics - “S” Pass

National Diploma in Technology offered by Naval Institute of Technology
* Mathematics Stream - Combined Maths and Physics - “S” Pass
* Biology Stream – Physics – “S” Pass
* Mathematics Stream - Combined Maths or Physics - “S” Pass
* Technology Stream - Engineering Technology and Science for Technology - “S” Pass

Shall appear for aptitude test conduct at NIT. This aptitude test shall be conducted to test out the knowledge of candidate on Mathematics, English language and General Knowledge. Candidates those who secured the highest marks shall be selected




Satisfy the following minimum physical standards

• Successful candidates will be required to pass a medical test to the satisfaction of the Commander of the Navy prior to the selection


• Candidates should be unmarried and no artificer apprentices will be permitted to marry whilst undergoing the training
