NIT Under-Trainees Launch Another CSR Project with Beach Cleanup Programme

Personnel from the Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) carried out a beach cleaning drive along the coastline between Wellawatte and Mount Lavinia today, 31 October 2026. The initiative was conducted under the national "Clean Sri Lanka" project, aimed at protecting coastal areas, preserving marine ecosystems and promoting environmental sustainability. Led by the Director of Studies, Captain SSH Bandara, the programme involved officers, senior instructors, sailors, and trainees from the institute.

The participants began with an endurance walk from Dehiwala beach towards Mount Lavinia before clearing litter along the shore during the return stretch. Following the cleanup, physical training instructors held group activities on the beach to boost morale and foster teamwork among the trainees. The event concluded with a shared breakfast on the beach and a warm-down session before all personnel returned to the institute premises.
