The Naval Institute of Technology (NIT), the premier artificer training institute of the Sri Lanka Navy, held a memorable Parents' Day event on 11th April 2025. The occasion marked a significant milestone for trainees of Intakes 25th, who recently completed their basic training. It was a day to showcase the transformation of these young men and women, offering their families a glimpse into their journey from young school leavers to skilled naval personnel.
The event held at the NIT auditorium featured a captivating variety show, where trainees displayed their diverse talents through a series of performances, including traditional and modern dances, gripping dramas, soulful songs, and inspiring speeches. The high-level performances left parents in awe, as they witnessed firsthand the remarkable progress their children have made during their basic training.
Following the show, the parents and trainees embarked on a special ship visit onboard SLNS Gajabahu, SLNS Sindurala and SLCGS Suraksha. This visit offered parents an opportunity to experience the working environment of their children where they will engage after passing out from the Institute. The exposure brought parents a closer understanding about the rigors and demands of a naval career.
Throughout the event, parents expressed their amazement and gratitude, commending the efforts of the trainees and the dedicated training staff at NIT. It was a day filled with pride, joy, and a sense of achievement, as families celebrated the hard work and dedication of the trainees.
